Jan Brueghel a Older (1568-1625) was a Flemish painter, son of Pieter Brueghel the Elder and father of Jan Brueghel the Younger. Nicknamed 'Velvet' Brueghel, 'Flower' Brueghel, & 'Paradise' Brueghel, a latter 2 were from either favorite cases, when a previous will refer to the velveteen shininess of his colors or even to his habit of wearing velvet.
